Changes to PDS Wear

We have improved the method of determining the Critical Change-Out (CCO) date to provide more granularity.

This shouldn’t affect the reported CCO dates for belts where the testing has been consistent, but we advise customers to view the reports for critical belts to ensure planning decisions aren’t affected.

The release date for the changes is the evening of September the 18th. Any wear reports that are run after this date will use the new calculations. We will send out notifications when the changes have been released to remind users to run the reports. Any existing subscriptions generating on a monthly cycle will be pushed out to ensure the latest reports are available.

Changes to the Wear Calculations

Wear will be analysed at each x-position independently to provide customers with more information as to where the most wear is occurring and what particular line (x-position) is driving the CCO date.

The reported CCO date may change for some belts. This will be particularly evident when x-positions are skipped during testing and thus the calculations at each x-position will be based on fewer test results. 

Changes to Wear Profile & Trend Report

In the report on Wear Rates for each partition, users will now see:

  • The minimum test result (as recorded in the last test) for the partition.
  • The x-value and test result that derives the earliest critical change-out date (either LC or RC).

Typically, these two results will be the same, but occasionally they may differ.  If the minimum for the partition is different, then this may indicate a recent change in operating conditions and that accelerated wear is happening in a different line to previously.  This may prompt the user to view the test results to see exactly where the accelerated wear is occurring and possibly inspect the conveyor to investigate further.

After determining which x-position (LC or RC) produces the earliest CCO date, the corresponding LC or RC will be displayed. The trend graph will depict the test results at that x-position only.
